Umutesi is Miss KIM 2009

23-year-old, Angelique Umutesi, is the maiden Miss Kigali Institute of Management (KIM). The 3rd year student, in the faculty of Accounts, emerged the winner of the Miss KIM Beauty Pageant 2009, beating off competition from three other contestants who made it to the final stage of the contest.

23-year-old, Angelique Umutesi, is the maiden Miss Kigali Institute of Management (KIM).

The 3rd year student, in the faculty of Accounts, emerged the winner of the Miss KIM Beauty Pageant 2009, beating off competition from three other contestants who made it to the final stage of the contest.

Umutesi was crowned Miss KIM 2009 by the Minister of Culture and Sports Joseph Habineza, at a function held at KIM, Nyandungu.

The event was graced by other several heads of the institution, Miss National University of Rwanda (NUR) Sandra Uwimbabazi, Miss Kigali School of Finance and Banking (SFB) Joan Ingabire, students and a number of musicians including Rwanda’s famous RnB star The Ben.

Umutesi walked away with a one-year scholarship, prizes and the crown of Miss KIM 2009, courtesy of KIM management.

The head of the jury, Daddy De Maximo, who announced the winners, said the search for Miss KIM 2009 was stressful considering that it was difficult to select the best among the initially ten selected beauty queens. 

Habineza congratulated the winners, saying that the exercise was part of the appreciation for the beauty of Rwandan women and girls, one of the country’s many natural endowments.

He however, added that beauty should go hand in hand with good deeds all geared towards the country’s development.

The event was organised by Brigitte Kaneza. The 24-year-old, student at KIM is a professional model, and she trained the beauties who contested for Miss KIM 2009.

The first ever to be held at KIM was mainly sponsored by: Kigali Institute of Management, The New Times, IPROMO, Chez Bisa, Inyarwanda.com, Queen Ally’s Boutique, Radio 10 and City Radio.
