Uganda’s Rwanda based witty and hard-hitting singer-songwriter, Austin Tenywa Luwano, is preparing a mega comeback concert to make his music career a dream come true.

As he prepares for his upcoming concert in Kigali, Tenywa Luwano, a.k.a Uncle Austin retraces the highlights of his career and turns the spotlight on his current projects.

Uncle Austin, a man known for his melodic lyrics and biting social satire - not to mention the famous cap he wears pulled down low over his eye brows - has been a rare sight on Rwanda’s music scene in recent years.

But his fans have remained impressively loyal and, it seems, Uncle Austin’s songs remain as topical as ever.

The 24-year-old, singer has always been aware of the power of music. As a young boy, Uncle Austin was captivated by the way in which the artists drive the world with their music.

He says, that he discovered his potential to sing when he was 10-years-old, through his music lessons at school.

"I was inspired by my music teacher,” he says, "I used to admire her voice, and I thought to myself that someday I would be like her, or even better than her,” Uncle Austin recalls.

"Her voice was musical, smooth and very loud, and I couldn’t keep my eyes from her.”

Uncle Austin was further inspired by Shaggy and a range of other musicians. He went on to develop his music career, and he is currently collaborating with Rwanda’s talented singer/dancer, The Ben.

The singer told The New Times the concert will be graced by a score of local musicians, including Uganda’s celebrated vocalist Bebe Cool.

Besides his music career, Uncle Austin is a renowned Radio presenter. He was famous for his talk show: "Afri-Connection Night”, on Radio 10, and former Programmes’ Director on City Radio.
