Rwanda Amateur boxing Association (Raba) has postponed this year’s national championship to November 27-30 after failing to acquire a venue.

The championship had initially been scheduled for November 8-11 at Amahoro indoor stadium.

Raba Secretary General, Eugene Ndashyikirwa told Times Sport on Monday that the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports have given priority to the international crusade event, which will be staged on the same dates at the main stadium.

"We have accepted to postpone our event until when the stadium is free.

The Amahoro indoor stadium remains the only favourable venue to host the national championship. Ndashyikirwa confirmed.

The boxing federation hopes to use the event to select the national team that will take part in the African qualifiers for the 2008 Olympic Beijing Games due in early next year.

Uganda and Tanzania are battling for the rights to stage the qualifiers.
