Midfielder Samuel Gueulette has admitted that Rwanda will have a tough time dealing with Nigeria when the two teams go up against each other in match day 5 of the World Cup 2026 Cup qualifiers on Friday, March 21, at Amahoro Stadium.

Rwanda held the Super Eagles to a goalless draw during the AFCON 2025 qualifiers in September 2024 before putting up a remarkable 2-1 comeback victory over the same side in Uyo in November.

Nigeria return in Kigali with a mission to win in a battler that Gueulette admits will be tough to overcome despite playing before the home crowd. However, he said, the objective remains to replicate the feat on Friday.

"We have played two times against Nigeria recently during the AFCON 2025 qualifiers. We had 4 points out of 6 against them which is impressive as they are a very strong team. But it will be a tough game this time," Gueulette told the club website.

"The new stadium (Amahoro) is amazing and always full of fans. If, at least, we get a point against Nigeria it would be a good result. We will do everything to get good results"

Rwanda is on top of Group C with 7 points while Nigeria is 5th with 4 points. Amavubi will host Nigeria and Lesotho on March 21 and March 25respectively.
