KARONGI - Commuters who ply the Karongi-Rubavu road through Rutsiro have appealed to the government to assist them by coming up with alternatives  to solve their transport problems.

The residents attribute this to the critical shortage of buses plying this route as the public transport provider Onatracom has only two scheduled buses.

"You can spend the whole day waiting for transport and in most cases residents are inconvenienced as travel plans are set according to the schedules provided by Onatracom,” said a passenger identified as Francoise Musabyimana.

Musabyimana proposed that at least one more bus be added along this route to save the situation.

In the meantime Musabyamina added that travellers who are left out are forced  to walk over 40 kilometres to their destination but this is only possible for the young and youthful.
