Members of Kigali Bar Association (KBA) are undergoing a one week long training on International Criminal Law in Kigali.

The training is a continuation of a series of trainings facilitated by the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) in partnership with the European Union.

According to the KBA chairman Vincent Karangwa, the training for the lawyers will be instrumental in broadening their knowledge of International criminal law.

"This is going to help you in adapting to what you learnt in theory because it involves demonstrations of the theory through Moot courts that you have to undertake during this training,” said Karangwa.

International criminal law is an autonomous branch of law which deals with international crimes and the courts and tribunals set up to adjudicate cases in which persons have incurred international criminal responsibility.

"What they learn at the university is not enough, so there is need for every one to undertake such trainings in order to be able to be more useful to their clients,” Karangwa said.
