League champions, APR are leaving nothing to chance as they bid for an 11th league title by starting pre-season training a month before the start of the new season.

Despite winning the league last season, the military side had an average season for their standards. The won the league by virtue of their superior goal difference over Atraco, were the overwhelming favorites for the title.

However, APR Secretary General, Adolphe Kalisa yesterday told Times Sport that with the club under performing last season, the players have to start pre-season early enough to get in to good shape before the league starts on October 14.

"The coach had recommended that pre-season starts on September 21 but we have changed that and the players will report for training on September 14,” Kalisa said, adding that they want to have concluded singing all their targets before pre-season training starts.

The military side has been linked with a host of players including Atraco’s first choice goalkeeper Jean Luc Ndayishimiye, Rayon Sport midfielder Albert Ngabo, another former Rayon player Kalisa Mao and their former striker Laurent Kabanda Mukandila.
