Six beauties from Kigali Institute of Management (KIM) will compete for scholarship money, prizes and the chance of a lifetime to be crowned Miss KIM.

The event set for Friday, September 5, at KIM, Nyandungu, will be entertained by local musicians, including Miss Shanel, The Ben, KNC and Meddy.

The event is the first ever beauty pageant established at the Institute.

However, the Miss University pageant is hosted annually in different universities and higher learning institutions in Rwanda.

Brigitte Kaneza, a.k.a Boubou is the organiser and trainer of the beauties. The 24-year-old, 2nd-year student at KIM said that six beauties are scheduled to compete for Miss KIM.

Boubou is a trained fashion model. She contested for Miss Kigali in 2008, and for Miss East Africa.

All eligible contestants must fall within the age bracket of 21-25, between 1.7 and 2 meters tall and weigh between 54-58kgs.

The model added that contestants are also expected to be able to speak both English and French fluently. A charming face, confidence, catwalk and intelligence, are also among other facts to be considered.

"The titleholder of the Miss KIM pageant will be the face of KIM and will be representing the Institute on several occasions, so the parameters are high,” Boubou said.

"These pageants are awakening the country to what we’ve known all along, that Misses can make a significant contribution to the society,” Boubou said, adding that, "Girls are successful, talented and hard-working people, and their contribution offers so much to the country’s social-economic development.”

Sponsors include: IPROMO, Chez Bisa, Inyarwanda.com Queen Ally’s Boutique, Radio 10 and City Radio.

The first ever Miss University pageant was introduced in 2007, at the National University of Rwanda (NUR).
