Marines head coach Yves Rwasamanzi has promised to get his side up and firing again after the international break.

The Rubavu-based side lost 2-1 at home to Amagaju FC over the weekend and they aren’t safe from relegation with nine league games remaining as they sit 13th on the table with 22 points, just four points off the relegation zone.

Saturday’s loss to Amagaju was Marines’ fourth in their last five games, a run that is worrying the club management.

Rwasamanzi admitted that his team is having a bad run in the league, but promised to work hard during the international break to turn the results around when the league resumes.

"We started the season poorly, conceding many goals but slowly, we can turn things around. We have the chance to use this international break and reorganise again, and I hope we can take return to good form for the rest of the season,” Rwasamanzi told Times Sport.

Reflecting on team’s defeat to Amagaju, the coach said, "We were good on the ball, passed it well and we made runs for each other, which made the games easy for us but scoring has been problem and I have to work on it during this break.”

Marines will square off with cross town rivals Etincelles on March 30 at Umuganda Stadium. The two sides will resume rivalry at the time Etincelles are enjoying an impressive run of form since new head coach Innocent Seninga took over in early February.

Under Seninga, the club lost just once and won four times in their last six games.
