ALLAN'S LIFE PRINCIPLES:God’s will in our lives

I believe that there are many special things that the lord wants us to do and many duties that He wants us to perform but we don’t know about them because we have not allowed Him to show us.

I believe that there are many special things that the lord wants us to do and many duties that He wants us to perform but we don’t know about them because we have not allowed Him to show us.

On top of worshipping God, we all have special callings that we ought to respond to and immediately start performing the required duties.

We shall learn from the book of Prophet Jonah what it means to abide by God’s calling and letting His will be done.
Jonah 1: God’s will/ your calling

God told Jonah to go to the city of Nineveh and tell the people to turn away from their sins.

Jonah got up and went in the opposite direction in order to get away from God. Friends, are we ourselves taking the right direction, are we going where God has sent us?

Many of us have taken on a wrong direction in lives (lying, theft, corruption, fornication, cheating, drunkenness, etc) but remember there is a right direction that you should be taking and God is telling you to head to it.

Running from the call

When Jonah decided to go in the opposite direction by boarding a ship to run away, Jonah 1:4: "But the lord hurled a powerful wind over the sea, causing a violent storm that threatened to break the ship”.

Many of us have run away from what God wants us to do and because of that, we are facing many challenges and storms.

Has it ever occurred to you that some of the problems that you are going through were not meant to be yours but because you took a wrong direction you are now facing them?

If Jonas had not disobeyed God, he would not have faced the storm. Take a minute and think about some of the challenges we are facing today, you will notice that many of them would not have come our way if we had avoided sin.

Our taking the wrong direction has also affected the lives of other people. The men on the ship with Jonah were terrified and would have died because of Jonah’s disobedience.

Many of our friends have lost their jobs because of cheating/corruption and this has also affected their families. Let us know that whatever we do does not only affect us but our acts impact others, too.

Decision making/God’s measures

For whatever direction we have taken, it is not yet late to change and take on the right one. Jonah 1:15 To save the situation, Jonah requested to be thrown in to the sea and was swallowed by a big fish.

My friends we can today say enough is enough and we repent then take the right direction as God demands.

God made Jonah to be swallowed by a big fish: God will take measures to ensure that you take the right direction, our taking long to decide contributes to the hard times we are going through

Jonah’ prayer epentance

Faced with the situation, Jonah repented and called on God’s will upon his life to take precedence. Jonah 2:7

"when I had lost hope, I turned my thoughts once more to the Lord. And my earnest prayer went out to you in your holy temple”. Friends, we need to call on God to put us in the right direction so that we undertake His will.

God gave Jonah a second chance and he went to the city of Nineveh and preached as God had required.

After preaching, the people turned to God and the city was spared from destruction. God’s will and calling if abided to will bring good things in our lives and those around us and we shall be saved from destruction.
