Editor,

Your Editorial on the successful development of Nyamagabe district is commendable (Wednesday August 26th) because of its focus on the need to develop and apply home-grown solutions to home-grown problems.

However you made one small mistake concerning the apparitions of Our Lady at Kibeho.

These apparitions are well documented and scrutinised by various experts. Pilgrims did not go to Kibeho to chase empty promises. On the contrary, pilgrims came to partake of the practical wisdom and blessings that Our Lady was communicating.

Our Lady of Kibeho came in response to the political/economic crisis that were then looming over Rwanda.

Our Lady asked Rwandans to love and forgive one another unconditionally and to eliminate the hidden bitterness from their hearts.

She also fully supported (and spoke openly about) the return and integration of all Rwanda exiles who had been locked out of the country since 1959.

And she warned the incumbent Habyarimana government that failure to open the doors for the exiled Rwandan community would result in a major catastrophe unprecedented in history.

What you are beholding in Rwanda today is nothing short of a miracle straight from Heaven.

You may not think much about Our Lady but she is concerned about and prays for you every day.
