The Rwanda Challenger 2025 concluded in Kigali on Sunday, March 9, with Frenchman Valentin Royer clinching the ATP Challenger 100 singles title after defeating Dutchman Guy Den Ouden in the final at IPRC-Kigali courts.
In the doubles category, Siddhant Banthia and Alexander Donski emerged victorious, overcoming Geoffrey Blancaneaux and Zdenek Kolar in a hard-fought 2-1 win (6-1, 7-5, 10-8) on Saturday, March 8.
I&M Bank Rwanda, one of the tournament’s key sponsors, played an active role in the event where the Bank’s Head of Marketing and Communications, Fiona Kamikazi, handed over the trophy to doubles winners Banthia and Donski.
I&M Bank Rwanda has for the past years been a regular business partner of Rwandan tennis where it has been allocating sponsorship into various tournaments organized locally before extending its sponsorship to a professional tennis tournament of ATP Challenger caliber.
Going forward, Kamikazi highlighted the banking institution’s commitment to playing a crucial role in supporting development of sports in Rwanda.
"We are proud to be part of an international tournament that not only brings world-class tennis to Rwanda but also inspires the next generation of players,” she said.
She further emphasized the Bank’s dedication to fostering talent, "At I&M Bank Rwanda, we believe in the power of sports to drive positive change, and we will continue to support initiatives that uplift athletes and communities.”
The Rwanda Challenger 2025, which ran from March 3-9, followed the ATP Challenger 75 event held from February 24 to March 1.
Both competitions, sanctioned by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), provided players with crucial ranking points (75 and 100, respectively) while reinforcing Rwanda’s position as a rising host for international tennis events.
