Editor,

It is only of recent that Rwanda opted to use English as medium of instruction in her educational sector because of its many advantages, such tapping business opportunities both regionally and internationally and accelerating technology transfer.

I knew my English was very poor and since then, I have devised various means of improving my English.

One of them is contributing and trying to communicate my ideas using The New Times letters page.

Sometimes the editor rejects my letters and I myself realise that either my English was so poor that I gave him hard time to edit it or I have gone out of his editorial demarcations.

However, most of the times he edits my ideas and on reading my own letter I learn more things ranging from organising the points, punctuations as well as grammar.

I therefore urge many people to get a culture of writing because it not only helps the public but also the writer’s skills-thanks  to the letters’  editor.
