RWANDA’s football governing body, Ferwafa has confirmed that the 2009/10 national football season will kick-off on October 17, the federation Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa as confirmed.

"We have planned the league to kick off mid October but the transfer window will close on October 2,” Kalisa said, adding that they hope nothing will change the kick off date of the new season.

Rwanda’s APR and Atraco FC went into the final day of last season both having a chance to win the league, but it was the military side who had the last laugh.

The nine-time league champions pulled off a 2-0 win over Mukura to add a tenth league title to their already adorned trophy shelf. Meanwhile, 2007-08 champions Atraco stumbled at the worst possible time.

Sam Timbe’s troops were shockingly held to a goalless draw, putting an instant end to talk of a possible treble.
