KIGALI golf club professional pair of Emmanuel Ruterana and Jean Baptista Hakizimana is in confident mood ahead of the Uganda Open championship which tees off this morning at Entebbe gold course.

The professional golfers have been camping and undergoing intensive training for the past one week at the Entebbe course.

Ruterana yesterday told Times Sport by phone that they are ready to challenger the homeboys in the three-day championship.

"The golf course is good and we have trained on it for a couple of days, which means we shall not any complaints as far the course if concerned,” Ruterana said.

While in Entebbe, Rwandan teams will face opposition from the rest of the East African professionals.

Notable entrants are professionals from Tanzania, Kenya and the hosts Uganda.

The professional golfers are accompanied by the amateur national team which is led by Captain Joseph Semwanga.

The others are; Fraterne Rubangura, Jules Dusabe, Celestin Habineza, Emmanuel Sengamungu, Olivier Munyaneza, Steven Katwiremu and Davis Kashaka.

The Rwandan amateur team is gearing up for the East African Challenge Golf Trophy that tees off at the same course early next week.

The Uganda Open will also accommodate amateurs and other high handicappers for the subsidiary event.
