For the first time ever, Rwanda will host a regional Kungu fu tournament dubbed East African Community (EAC) Hushu championship.

The competition, which will attract five countries; Tanzania, Kenya, Uganda, Burundi and hosts Rwanda will be staged at Amahoro indoor stadium from October 1-8.

In an effort to put up a top performance, the president of the National Kungu fu federation Yassin Mubarak Uramukiwe noted that a pre-selection of thirty players has already been done to start non-residential training at Amahoro.

"We know that the sport is much more advanced in countries like Uganda and Kenya so we need to prepare well if we are to challenge these countries,” the official hinted.

Uramukiwe also thanked the Ministry of Sports and Culture (Minispoc) for supporting the sport and offering to fund the championship.
