Editor,

I get so disappointed when I walk through Kigali city and the Kigali-Kimihurura road and realize that no one takes the initiative to switch off the security lights during the day.

T-hese lights are for the night only so during day time, everyone expects them to be off – unfortunately, that is not the case.

While the government continues to ensure country-wide distribution of energy, it is vital that we use what we have sparingly.

Authorities must endeavor to follow up on whoever is supposed to do this work; otherwise if one calculated how much we lose by lighting the streets during the day, I am certain that the accumulated loss can raise eyebrows.

Let us be responsible enough to use our resources for the right cause.
