Editor,

Following a Sports article on yesterday’s Daily; I would like to appeal to the Ministry of Sports and culture to appreciate the few unnoticeable Rwandans who have been doing our country proud in Sports and more especially athletics.

Epiphanie nyirabarame has set a Rwandan record in Marathon since she finished after 2 hours 33 minutes breaking the previous record of 2 hours 36 minutes.

Though she did not bring home a gold medal, her efforts should be appreciated and this will encourage her and more other young men and women to enter into sports as a career.

In other countries like Kenya, the athletes even after having taken home enough Gold Medals the Government takes it as its own responsibility to welcome home these people in great styles.

To some extent they get vehicles as the welcome home presents, houses etc.

The same case applied to Uganda’s Dorcas Nzikuru.

The President himself received her back home in style.

Let us appreciate these sportsmen; it’s a career like any other.
