Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilisation Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) provided free medical services to 435 residents of Mingala commune in Bria on March 1.

According to the statement by Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), the medical outreach included screenings for Non-Communicable Diseases such as diabetes and hypertension. Oral health education was also offered to the residents, ensuring that all beneficiaries received medical consultations and necessary treatments.

The medical outreach programme was designed to improve healthcare access and address critical health challenges in the region. Organised by the Rwandan Medical Contingent, the activity focused on providing free consultations, diagnostic services, and essential medications to those in need.

The team treated a wide range of illnesses, including malaria, intestinal worms, and dermatological conditions. Specialised gynaecological consultations were also conducted to support women’s health.

Given the high prevalence of oral health issues, the team provided dental care for conditions such as dental caries, periodontal diseases, and odontogenic infections.

The initiative reflects the shared commitment of MINUSCA and Rwanda to human security and the protection of civilians. It contributes to the well-being of the local population while fostering peace and stability in the region.
