Company starts operations in Rwanda

Uganda’s prominent event organizers, Silk Events have opened up offices in Rwanda. The event mangers recently acquired a license to start operations in Rwanda and they have already started doing business.

The event managers were hired by the Management of Bralirwa, Rwanda’s sole brewery to organise the 50 year anniversary celebrations for one of its beer brands Primus.

Preparations for the celebrations which include a party and a music show are in full gear and are scheduled to take place today at the Amahoro Stadium today.

The four months long special activities that started in May this year featured 37 road shows across the country under the theme; "50 Guma Guma” and they also included the biggest raffle draw where Primus consumers will win amazing prizes including a brand new Toyota Hilux Pick-up, mobile phones and television screens among other prizes.

The management of Bralirwa invested $1 million (Rwf570 million) to organise the whole campaign.

According to Silk Events Managing Director, Elvis W. Sekyanzi they have been working on the preparations for three months now.

"As Events Managers, we were just hired by Bralirwa to manage the main event which is happening today,” Sekyanzi added.

Silk Events has been in existence for six years operating in Uganda and it is one of the best event managers in the region.

BRALIRWA earned about Rwf 6bn last year in profits and is one of the highest tax payers.

It is partly owned by the Dutch based Heineken which holds stakes in breweries in many African countries and is also licensed to produce Coca Cola brands such as Fanta, Sprite, Krest, Tonic and Burn, an energy drink launched in Rwanda in December 2008.
