THE eagerly awaited friendly between Amavubi and DRC has been put off, Times Sport can exclusively reveal.

The Congolese were supposed to gauge Rwanda’s preparedness ahead of next month’s crunch 2010 World/ Africa Nations Cup qualifier against African champions Egypt but according to Ferwafa’s CEO Jules Kalisa, the friendly is now history after DRC’s failure to respond on time.

"They have failed to get back to us so we have to move on. The team will proceed with their preparations for the Egypt qualifier,” a disappointed Kalisa said.

The Egypt qualifier is slated for September 5 and Amavubi know that they have to dig out a result against the pharaohs if they are to have any hopes of competing at next year’s CAN in Angola.

The wasps are currently at the foot of Group C after managing a solitary point from a possible nine.

The team opened their campaign with a goalless draw against Algeria but went down against Zambia (0-1) and Egypt (0-3).

Algeria tops the group with seven points, followed by Egypt and Zambia with four points each.
