As Tusker project fame premiered last week a star studded contestant list was unveiled. The show that was aired on TVR was staged at the TPF house in Kenya.

In a press statement East African Breweries Limited Marketing Director Debra Mallowah disclosed that this year’s show will be newer and bigger with a complete new curriculum aimed at harnessing their talents.

"For the first time in the Tusker Project Fame history, we are this year set to witness a more competitive and engaging training process backed by an enhanced training curriculum,” Mallowah said.

To represent Rwanda is Alpha Rwirangira, Nina Bora and Christian Rwirangira all 23 years old.

"I entered the Tusker Project Fame contest because I love music. My family is very musical; my dad is a keyboard player and one of my cousins is a popular musician back home.

I really want to explore my musical talent.” said excited Alpha after joining the fame house.

Christian says he can dance and that he only knows five English songs but is determined to win the famed money. Rwandan Nina studies in Kenya and says she is in the academy to nurture her talent.

The unveiling show seems to be the beginning of a talent battle one that began way earlier at auditions stage. Some are now in the house, others dint make it that far.

In an interview Fayçal Ngeruka, a first round qualifier who did not make it to the final 15 said that his prior participation in Idols and Coca cola popstars both regional music shows was a major hindrance to him joining the fame house.

"The organisers seemed to have a problem with my prior performance in other music shows and my previous recorded songs since this particular show targets fresh talent,” said Ngeruka.

Ngeruka noted that despite the publicity and prize worth attached to project fame show few Rwandans availed themselves for the show.

"I am not broken that I dint make it to top fifteen because the experience and the publicity I enjoyed will be good for my career,” Ngeruka remarked.

He added that his drop off from the show would also give him a chance to join an Idols reunion slotted for next month.

The regional integrated judging panel will include Kenya’s Ian Mbugua and Tanzania’s award winning record producer, Hermes Bariki. A Ugandan panellist is also scheduled to join the panel.

Now voting begins as the academy list dwindles until one is left standing, the one winner, and one star.
