Standing room only at the Gen Z Comedy show held Thursday, February 20 at Kigali Cultural and Exhibition Village as fans packed the venue eager to catch viral sensations Nzovu and Yaka Mwana live in action.
While the venue was already a full house, tickets were still on high demand as a number of comedy enthusiasts preferred to even watch the two funny men from outside.
Some even decided to return home after they were told that the show was sold out.
It is something that surprised Gen Z Comedy show host and comedian Fally Merci after realizing that the venue was already too small to accommodate comedy lovers who were eagerly waiting for what the night had to offer.
Chaos ensued at the venue as hundreds of revelers flocked the ticket booth fighting to be served first to get inside.
All you could hear was excitement from revelers who were eager to witness Nzovu and Yaka Mwana’s taking their combination from YouTube shows to the big stage of Gen Z Comedy caliber. They may not have been included among the performers of the show but everyone who knows their humorous acts knew that they were going to own the show. And the duo never disappointed ever since Merci introduced them on stage.
Various comedians like Rumi, Clement, Muhinde and Pirate had their time to perform and cracked jokes on different subjects. Comedian Joshua also had a great time on stage and indeed made people laugh throughout his time on stage.
He joked about how kids from rich families go yo nice school that empowered them to be great however those from poor families tend to have bad reputation from what they saw at their schools.
Showbiz journalist Luckman Nzeyimana was also Merci’s guest of the show in the Meet Me Tonight’ segment during which he shared his career journey. He thanked Merci for creating a comedy initiative that has gone on to take over Kigali.
But people could be heard shouting Nzovu and Yaka every now and then to be welcomed on stage. And when the right time arrived, the two were called on stage. The atmosphere changed dramatically ever since as people left their seats and others stood on their chairs taking videos and photos.
Fally Merci hard got it east to get the two men engaged in a conversation given their stubbornness but it is clear to say that people loved and enjoyed them from the moment they stepped on the stage.
During their time on stage, which was full of laughter, music manager Alex Muyoboke and singer Niyo Bosco promised to gift them smartphones; that was especially when Nzovu said that he loves The Ben when he was asked his favorite artiste in Rwanda.
The duo could be seen singing, dancing on top of doing a lot of funny things on stage to get the audience hyped. This sparked a pretty unforgettable night between them and their followers.
Nzovu, born Venuste Bahizi, and Yaka Mwana, real name Pacifique Gasore, have built a name for themselves recently for how they combine in various interviews on YouTube. Their memes have been making headlines on social media, leaving the digital community entertained.
Before ending the show, Fally Merci thanked everyone for coming to the show, and apologized that the venue couldn’t accommodate all who wished to attend the show, especially those who had planned to buy tickets at the gates.
He allowed those whose tickets weren’t scanned to bring them for the next show.
