It was reported yesterday, that 35 students who paid tuition fees to the tune of $ 720 each to study with the University of South Africa(UNISA) under the long distance learning programme, are in a state of uncertainty after UNISA failed to send learning materials to the students through the Kigali Institute of Education, to whom they paid the money.

This is a case that should not have happened in the first place, had there been proper communication.

The need for people to acquire higher education can never be under looked.

The need for filling the skills gap that has been documented in rwanda can only be realized through the attainment of further education.

And when people undertake such an endeavor, all obstacles must be eliminated if they exist.

Those concerned, are reported to have said that the students paid money that was not enough for all the modules they wanted.

If this is the case, then a quick refund would be a solution as it would allow the students to put this saga behind them and find a new University to study from.

Topping up on the money to ensure that they get what they want from their studies would also be a good option.

Above all, what is important is for all stake-holders to realize that people attach a lot of importance to education and if any problem arises in such cases, a quick answer should always be found and communicated promptly so as to avoid a situation whereby some start suspecting foul play besides creating image problems for the institutions involved.
