The International Association of Athletics Federations decided to make the World Cross Country Championships a biennial affair.

The decision was reached at during the IAAF Congress held on Thursday held in Berlin, Germany.

The proposal to host the annual competition every two years was supported by 132 delegates with 22 voting against it, meaning that after next year’s competition in Poland, the next global cross country championship will be held in 2012.

Rwanda was represented by the local athletics federation boss Jean Paul Munyandamutsa.
