Grants are good for agriculture

Editor,

I would like through your paper to express my sincere appreciation for the agricultural grants and loans awarded to farmers. In particular Rural Investment Facility will greatly help them to be productive and benefit from the sweat of their work.

I was so impressed about the facility and hope many farmers will benefit which in return which change many Rwandan lives.

If the finances are well managed by beneficiaries, I am optimistic that agriculture will no longer be a last resort to survive but rather another investment potential.

The sector has financing challenges from local commercial banks and therefore the facility comes in as a timely goodwill effort.

Through this farmers will be encouraged to be innovative and exploit the facility.

I hope the government through the Ministry of Agriculture will provide technical assistance to have competitive projects.

Agriculture in our country is considered to be the development centre.

Last year it contributed 15 percent to the national GDP, and employs 90 percent of the 10 million population.
