Dieudonne Disi (above) has confirmed his readiness to challenge the world’s elite runners at the 12th World Athletics Championships which gets underway tomorrow in Berlin, Germany.

The national marathon record holder told Times Sport yesterday through an email that he’s ready for the Berlin challenge and is eyeing a good performance in his debut full marathon race.

"I have trained intensively for the last two weeks and I believe I can put on a good performance at the World Championship,” Disi said.

Disi, who is training at the high-altitude area at the Pyrenees resort of Font-Romeu, Montpellier, France will arrive in Berlin on August 20, two days before the men’s marathon.

The marathon race will attract some of the world’s elite athletes like world record holder Haile Gebrselassie and Kenya’s Duncan Kibet.

Disi, who has several long distance victories under his belt over the past few years, will be competing in his maiden full marathon at the highest level after switching from the 10.000m.
