The national football league will have a sponsor next season, Ferwafa’s Chief Executive Officer Jules Kalisa has confirmed.

Kalisa said that running the league without sponsors has crippled the federation’s activities, and as a result, the ministry of sports has been overburdened.

"Although we have not yet made a breakthrough in our attempt to find sponsors, the fact is that there must be a sponsor for the league next season.

"Because of the lack of sponsors, we didn’t manage to run the reserves league because we did not have money, and the ministry (of Sports) has been stretched to the limit,” Kalisa said on Wednesday.

He noted that with sponsors on board, the league will be very competitive and that they (Ferwafa) will also have extra money to allocate to awarding the top performers like best player, coach, top scorer among others.

The league last had a sponsor during 2005/06 season when Bralirwa through its Primus brand injected in Rwf 70m,but the sponsorship last for only one and half years before it stopped under unclear circumstances.
