Peace Cup: Musanze hold APR as Nyanza FC stun Police

Musanze FC settled for a goalless draw with APR FC in the 2024/25 Peace Cup round of 16 game at Ubworoherane Stadium on Wednesday, February 12.

Fresh from their explosive performance against Rayon Sports, on Sunday, February 9, Sosthen Habimana’s men were in their elements again as they put up another spirited performance against one of the tournament favorites.

APR coach Darko Novic handed goalkeeper Pierre Ishimwe a chance to start in the posts as Mamadou Sy and Gilbert Byiringiro also returned to the team starting lineup.

Habimana maintained the same starting 11 which played against Rayon over the weekend.

The home side were the better side as they dominated the ball possession but APR were very dangerous going forward.

The two teams played the ball mostly in midfield as they occasionally spread it to the wings.

Chances were far and few though APR had some decent ones but could not beat goalkeeper Jean de Dieu Nsabimana.

Elsewhere, there was a shock in Southern Province as Nyanza FC defeated Police FC 2-1.

Amagaju also beat 2024 finalists Bugesera FC 2-1 at Huye Stadium while Rayon Sports also traveled to Umuganda Stadium in Rubavu to defeat Rutsiro FC 2-1 while City Boys settled for a 1-1 draw with Gorilla FC.

The second leg games with be played on 18-19 February.
