The 22-year-old, law student Sandra Uwimbabazi is predicated to be Miss FESPAM 2009 and win a prize of close to Rfw4M (CFA3.000.000), if she continues to impress the judges.
"She is very smart and confident. We’re convinced that she will win Miss FESPAM 2009 and the cash,” Didier Tsuki Rutayomba, the CEO of iPromo, Rwanda Initiative Promotion told The New Times.
Rutayomba added that, Uwimbabazi impressed the penal and audience when she performed Rwanda’s favourite traditional dance (Amaraba) and her super vocal cord
wimbabazi left the country for Congo Brazzaville on August 1, aboard Ethiopia Airlines.
The once in two-years festival was officially opened by the President of Congo Brazza, Denis Sassou Nguesso, at Stade Felix Eboue Brazzaville.
The Law student is competing with misses from 13 countries, including Cameroon, Chad, Gabon, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Faso, Senegal, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali and Rwanda.
According to Rutayomba, Uwimbabazi’s travel was entirely sponsored by iPromo.
The festival will end on August 7, and the outgoing Miss FESPAM, Chad’s 23-year-old Nicole Remadji will handover her crown to the new Miss.
Meanwhile, former Miss NUR Carine Rusaro Utamuriza was the first runner-up for Miss FESPAM 2007.
