Nigerian winger Johnson Nwobodo Chidiebere is demanding a full 10-month salary – equivalent to a football calendar year, from APR after the club released him.

The 21-year-old’s departure was announced by the club on Monday, January 27, meaning that he only spent six months at the club, despite having signed a two-year contract last year.

Nwobodo had struggled for playing time with the defending champions, often finding himself on the bench.

APR recently signed Ugandan wingers Denis Omedi from Kitara FC and Hakim Kiwanuaka from SC Villa, which showed that the club was not going to need the services of Nwobodo and his fellow countryman Godwin Odibo who left the club in the past couple of days.

Times Sport understands that Odibo agreed to a settlement where he will receive a full six-month salary, to have his contract terminated. However, for Nwobodo, who is reportedly earning around $4,000 per month, the situation is not yet settled.

Though he agreed to the contract termination, he is insisting on receiving one year’s salary instead of the six-month offer.

The two parties have yet to reach a resolution, despite agreeing to the contract cancellation and officially announcing it.

Nwobodo joined APR from Enugu Rangers in July 2024 on a two-year deal.
