Miss NUR in Congo Brazzaville for FESPAM 2009

Miss National University of Rwanda (NUR), Sandra Uwimbabazi is representing Rwanda, in the ongoing Miss FESPAM 2009 beauty contests, in Congo Brazzaville.

The 22-year-old beauty, and Law student is competing with 14 other beauty contestants from different countries, including Chad, Cameroon, Gabon, Angola, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Congo-Brazzaville, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Central African Republic (CAR) and Togo, for Miss FESPAM 2009.

Pan African Festival of Music (FESPAM), is a cultural exchange festival, which takes place every two years.

The four-day festival that  kicked-off on August 3, is bringing together different African musicians and Misses from 15 African countries.

FESPAM is an important cultural event on the African continent for it belongs to the OAU-African Union and showcases musical artists from all parts of Africa.

According to the founder and chairman of the Kora All-Africa Music Awards, Mr. Ernest Coovi Adjovi, the agreement is an important step along the KORA journey and the contribution that KORA has made to music of African Origin.

"I am honoured that our expertise and strengths have been recognised through this unique agreement and we look forward to the impact that FESPAM will have in Africa this year,” Adjovi said.

The focus for this year’s FESPAM is to create intersection between musicians, misses, models and fashion designers.

One of the biggest attractions of the festival is the "Miss FESPAM Night”. Chad’s 23-year-old Nicole Remadji was elected Miss FESPAM 2007, beating eleven beauties, while former Miss NUR Carine Rusaro Utamuriza won the first runner-up.
