Volleyball: Gisagara beats East African University

The highly anticipated volleyball clash between East African University Rwanda (EAUR) and Gisagara Volleyball Club on Saturday, January 25, concluded with Gisagara claiming a decisive 3-1 (25-21, 25-15, 25-28, 25-20) victory.

Held at Petit Stade Indoor Gymnasium, the game saw Gisagara set the tone, claiming the first set on 25-21 points, before decisively winning the second one as well on 25-15 points.

Using powerful spikes and strategic placement, Gisagara’s attackers overwhelmed EAUR’s defence which struggled to maintain rhythm.

EAUR regrouped in the third set, showing resilience and better coordination. They managed to exploit gaps in Gisagara’s backline, clinching the set 28-25.

The deciding fourth set was a pulsating showdown, with both teams pushing their limits in pursuit of victory. EAUR started strong, taking an early lead through well-placed serves and coordinated team play.

Gisagara, however, fought back, relying on their attacking power to stay within striking distance. The set saw incredible rallies that kept the crowd on the edge of their seats. Ultimately, Gisagara’s composure made the difference, as they clinched the set 25-20 and secured a hard-fought 3-1 victory.

In earlier games in the men's category, Kepler beat Kigali Volleyball Club 3-0 (25-14, 25-15, 25-15), while Rwanda Energy Group (REG) also defeated Rwanda Polytechnic Ngoma 3-0 (25-21,25-15,25-15).
