Musanze 0-3 Etincelles

Etincelles produced a superb second half performance to win this year’s second division title after thrashing rivals Musanze 3-0 in the final play-off played on Sunday at Nyamirambo stadium.

The first half ended in a statement, but immediately after the interval winger Janvier Habimana put Etincelles in-front with a supreme finish. Jean Claude Nsenga added two goals on the 70th and 82nd minute to seal Musanze’s fate.

Musanze coach Rafiki Nshimiyimana admitted that the visitors deserved the win after producing an excellent second half display.

"Full credit to them for their wonderful second half performance. We shall now start preparing for the top flight,” said the coach for the Northern Province side.

Regardless of the result, both teams will play in the top flight division next season.

Musanze had finished the regular season as Group A leaders, while Etincelles topped group B.

They replace Kibuye and La Jeunesse, who were relegated after a disastrous campaign in the first division.
