Miss KIST 2009 crowned

Twenty-year old Clarisse Nshuti was Friday crowned Miss Kigali Institute of Science and Technology 2009 (KIST).

Twenty-year old Clarisse Nshuti was Friday crowned Miss Kigali Institute of Science and Technology 2009 (KIST).

The first year student in the faculty of Engineering, department of Computer engineering information and technology beat five finalists of the third Miss KIST Beauty Pageant.

Mico Twagira, and Lillian Mutuyimana were first and second runners-up respectively.

Nshuti walked away with a cash prize of Rwf 100,000 from Kist Rector’s Award of Excellence. SULFO Industries also pledged to give her various accessories to maintain her beauty.

Twagira was awarded Rwf 70.000 and beauty accessories while Mutuyimana was awarded Rwf 50.000

The head of the jury, Eugene Nyagahene, who announced the winners, said the search for Miss KIST 2009 among the initially five selected beauty queens was not easy.

The Vice Rector in charge of Finance and Administration, Erasme Gatabazi, congratulated the winners saying that the exercise was part of showing appreciation for the beauty of KIST girls, one of the Institution’s many natural endowments.

He however added that beauty should go hand in hand with good deeds all geared towards the country’s development.

During the same function three students who excelled in various disciplines such as sports, cultural innovation and the student who researched on a solution for traffic congestion in Kigali, were also awarded Rwf 25.000.
