Is spitting around and using hands to clean nostrils part of public order?

In any society, there are practices which turn into habit. Of course it’s not so easy to determine whether they are perfect or irritating. Normally, people think that anything which is not directly put down in codes of law is acceptable behavior.

Spitting in public is a very disgusting habit. "I absolutely hate it. It’s disgusting and unhygienic,” says one Mushimire.
What can we do, as a community, to stop it? Do we really need sensitization on this?

Rwandans have a culture of exchanging hands while greeting. This is where the whole issue is. Imagine how unhygienic it is holding one’s hand after cleaning up your mucous using those hands. Tissues are not very costly.

This is so nagging. It has gone so far that now days, people no long want to exchange hands because they are very well sure that people’s hands are contaminated. Many foreigners have always been so critical about the issue of picking ones nose and spiting around.

In many countries, because of the disease risk and the fact that it is socially unacceptable, spitting in public has been made illegal.

This is the case in China. What the people that do this don’t realize is that their mucous and saliva could be carrying one or more of the many kinds of diseases like tuberculosis.

Spitting on the street is in fact a public health issue. How would these people feel if they walked into their living room and found someone spat on their carpets.

Would they see it as something normal? Of course not. Imagine someone irrespective of who is opposite or close just spits without considering one’s feelings!

We are indeed privileged for the reflection we give to foreigners. Our city’s cleanliness has been appreciated everywhere.

We should maintain it by keeping ourselves clean too. Quote me right here, I’m not saying we are dirty, but what we a times do makes us not clean.

The problem with human beings is that they always work on orders. I remember when an order was passed not to litter the streets with paper.

It really worked because everyone suspected a person next to him or her as someone who would go and report in case he or she acted contrary to the order.

Let us fight any habit that can tarnish our name. It’s not in order to have a negative side. This is something small to stop. We may not recognize it as grave, but to other neighboring countries take for instance Uganda it is grave.

It’s very rare to see one spitting around streets. It is only done by pregnant mothers because for them they cannot control.

At least for them it is understandable Let’s try our best by considering other’s feelings not to feel disgusted by what our habits and impressed them for the good of our environment.

By doing this we will be in harmony with public order.
