ALLAN'S LIFE PRINCIPLES:Miracles & god’s promises

I was surprised to hear one of my workmates discussing with another the possibility of miracles. One of them was insisting that miracles stopped in Jesus’ generation and the moment he ascended into heaven there are no more miracles on earth.

To me, miracles will always be part of God’s church (his people) as it is written in the Bible. Many miracles happen even by us praying for ourselves: when seated on the office desk feeling a heavy headache and you ask Jesus to heal you and He does in the next few minutes/hours.

To me, that is a miracle. When you ask God for money and as you leave office and a friend offers some money, that is a miracle. The gift of life till today is a miracle. I believe many of you have miracles you can share with us.

The miracles in today’s life are embodied in the many promises that God promised to fulfill. Some miracles will come to us by our prayers; others will come through others’ prayers.

1 Corinthians 12:27-28 each of us is part of the body of Christ. And some of the parts that make up Christ’s body are those that perform miracles. This emphasizes that even when Jesus ascended to heaven, the body of Christ that he left behind will/can perform miracles, it takes faith and righteousness.

Mark 16:17 before Jesus was taken to heaven, he told the disciples to go and preach the gospel. Whoever believes and gets baptized will be saved and these signs will follow them: they will cast out demons, they will lay hands on the sick and they will be healed, they will speak in a new language etc.

All these are signs of miracles that Jesus promised to believers.

Given that the miracles are embodied in God’s promises, Psalms 146:6, He made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them. He keeps every promise forever. If the miracles are part of the promises Jesus promised to fulfil as he left for heaven then they will always be part of us.

Hebrew 11:11 Sarah believed that God would keep his promise hence she got a child. We need to stick to what God has promised to offer us and we shall achieve it.
Some of the promises

Exodus 3:17 God promised to rescue us from all oppression if we give Him chance to help us.

2 Peter 3:9 the Lord is not really slow about the promise of coming back to take his people as some people think, He is being patient for your sake. The question is: Are you ready for him? He is about to come back.

Roman 4:20 Abraham became what he was because he believed that God will keep his promises. To be strong and overcome the devil, we need to stick to and believe in God’s promises.

Conditions for fulfilment of promises
2 Peter 1:5 you need to make efforts to enjoy the promises. Ask the Lord that His promises may be fulfilled in your life (pray). Self control, patience and endurance are required.
Hebrew 6:12 faith will make the promises to be fulfilled in your life.

Hebrew 2:  we can’t escape God’s promises at all costs especially salvation if we are to go to heaven.
The promises that God has made are so many and they cover all aspects of life and God is not a man to lie, He will fulfil all the promises he made as long as: We have faith in Him; We are patient and with self control; We shall endure all it takes to achieve this promise; and We ask Him for these promises.

Friends it is time for us to stand up and claim/fight for the promises that have to be fulfilled in our lives. He will make us heads and not tails. Let us go get them.
