IPRC-Kigali will be reopening on November 7 following a two-weeks temporary closure, the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC) has announced.

The school was closed over alleged theft and misappropriation of public resources.

The ministry announced the development on November 4.

"MINEDUC informs that the campus will be re-opened to all students, staff, and the general public from Monday, 7 November 2022,” reads part of the statement.

In addition, MINEDUC requested students who had returned home to come back to school on Monday to continue with their studies.

The development comes after Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) disclosed that they are about to conclude the investigation though they didn’t specify any timelines.

"Once the investigations have been concluded at the suspected crime scene (IPRC-Kigali campus), we will inform relevant authorities to have the premises reopened,” said Thierry Murangira, The RIB spokesperson.

The Kicukiro-based premises were cordoned off almost two weeks ago when some of the top leaders of the institution were arrested.

The arrested officials, including the Principal, Diogene Mulindahabi, and 11 others, have since appeared before the court.

Also temporarily closed are the offices of Rwanda Polytechnic (RP), the body that oversees all IPRCs (Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centres) around the country, which is on the same compound as IPRC-Kigali.
