Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) has disclosed that the ongoing investigations into allegations of theft and misappropriation of public resources at IPRC-Kigali, which forced temporary closure of the campus, are almost complete.

RIB spokesperson Thierry Murangira, confirmed this to The New Times on Friday without specifying any timelines.

Murangira noted that once the investigations have been concluded at the suspected crime scene (IPRC-Kigali campus), they will inform relevant authorities to have the premises reopened.

The Kicukiro-based premises were cordoned off around two weeks ago when some of the top leaders of the tertiary TVET institution were arrested.

The arrested officials, including the principal, Diogene Mulindahabi, and 11 others, have since appeared before court.

Also temporarily closed are the offices of Rwanda Polytechnic (RP), the body that oversees all IPRCs (Integrated Polytechnic Regional Centres) around the country, which is on the same compound as IPRC-Kigali.

Claudette Irere, the Minister of State for ICT and TVET, has previously allayed fears over the interruption of academic programmes due to temporary closure of the campus.

Asked for a comment, Irere told The New Times that the ministry was waiting for RIB to advise on the way forward.
