World Relief donates to orphan students

WESTERN PROVINCE   NYAMASHEKE — The World Relief Rwanda over the weekend donated 64 mattresses and other forms of assistance to needy orphans in the region.

NYAMASHEKE — The World Relief Rwanda over the weekend donated 64 mattresses and other forms of assistance to needy orphans in the region.
 
The donation was handed to the beneficiaries on Saturday in Kirambo cell, Kanjongo sector in Nyamasheke district at the end of a two-day seminar that was called to fight against Hiv/Aids. 

Albert Nzacahinyeretse, the World Relief Field officer in Nyamasheke and Rusizi districts said that the mattresses were donated to students in various secondary schools who are also sponsored by World Relief.The students were also given various scholastic materials.

"The donation of both mattresses and school items to these students by the World Relief is mainly meant to improve their living and academic standards while at their respective schools” Nzacahinyeretse said.

Before handing the items to the beneficiaries, Nzacahinyeretse who presided over the seminar called upon the students to avoid engaging in premarital sex and encouraged them to help curb the Hiv/Aids pandemic.  

Shortly after the function Nzacahinyeretse told The New Times that World Relief would also pay Mutuelle de sante for the year 2010 for these students before the end of the year.  

One of the beneficiaries, Grace Dusenge said "As a needy person  I have been sleeping on an old mattress but now I have got a new one and I thank World Relief and our government for this gesture”.
