THE TOUCH:Beauty meets brows

It’s been said, and repeated that beauty and agony are intertwined. Women have learnt to live with the agony because the outlook is always worth that pain.

I had no idea how true this statement is until I sat for my first eye brows threading experience. My friends convinced me that there was a living bush on my face that needed trimming down to enhance my facial look. My choices were few, a razor, tweezers or threading.

I chose the latter and after a tearful thirty minutes exercise, I was through. The pain though excruciating, the look was ironically gorgeous.

That was my first acquaintance with what would be a lifetime beauty meet agony look. The make up artist attending to me was quick to advise me that eyebrows are much more than a nasty mess that we all let them be. They convey that much a fashion meaning.

They can be a signature statement one makes. Eye brow shapes are unique to a person and the way they are shaped aids one to pull that unique look.

Make-up artists note that well shaped eye brows will frame the eyes, make them look bigger and give the face a polished look.

The main purpose of eye brow shaping and removing unwanted hair from the eyebrow area is to create a flattering arch that enhances the eye. This can be done by use of a razor. This is the most common method. The beauty of it is that it’s really painless.

However the drawback is that the hair will grow back within a week.

The next option is using tweezers, this is a bit painful. Tweezers help one pull out eye brow hairs one by one. It’s painful but the effect is a well defined shape that lasts for almost a month. Another option is to use a thread, a technique used by many make-up-artists; thread is elegantly used to pull out the hair from the roots a couple at a time.

It’s faster than threading but many people maintain is more painful than tweezers. It takes almost a month for the hair to grow back.

Different people prefer different methods to shape the eye brows but the final look does not vary much, the key is to retouch them regularly. Some people prefer to leave the eye brows thick while others will clear them leaving a slim line.

The shape is determined by the face and the natural shape of the eyebrows. The most elegant brow shape is one that will appear long, clean, and natural.

After the shaping, to make the look complete, apply make-up to your eyebrows. This will make them stand out. At first, you may feel the eye brow pencil has exaggerated your eye brows.

However, this is just the initial sentiment, soon you will get used to this new look.
