For a long time cats and rats have always been the worst enemies that ever existed. In fact kittens do not need lessons on how to kill rats for food.

There was once a boy called Madu. He had grown up in a village that had been infested with rats for a very long time.

These rats would not only eat up their clothes but also destroyed crops in the garden to the extent that hunger hit the village.

One day, the village chiefs came up with a strategy to eliminate the deadly pests. The plan  was so traditional that it took a long time to get rid of the rats.

The plan was to give sticks to all the children in the village to hunt down all the rats. This sounded like so much fun for the young boys.

They tried their best to do a good a job but they could not finish off all the rats which were many.

At Madu’s home, there was one young rat that disturbed the family. It would eat his clothes, food and at night it would bite his toes while he slept. This made him very angry.Madu tried his best to kill the rat but all his efforts were in vain.

So he decided to visit Zaka his best friend. He saw his cat carry away a rat from the house. That is when he got the idea to buy a cat that would get rid of the rat at his home.

Unfortunately, his cat became friends with rat and never killed it. This was very unusual and Madu was disappointed.
But the good thing was that from that time the rat stopped misbehaving. It stopped biting Madu’s toes, eating his clothes or even stealing his food.

Eventually Madu liked the rat and he fed it together with the cat.

This was the first time a cat became best friends with a rat and person.
