Today let us review the rights that children with disabilities have. I will call these children special because they are very important and dear to all of us.

Like any other child, special children have rights too. I am going to be specific and discuss only one right among the many that you know- The right to do exams.

It is unfortunate that many special children do not know that they have the right to enjoy school or sit the national exams.

The laws of Rwanda protect disabled children. In Article 12 of The Law says, "A pupil or a student with a disability that does not enable him or her to sit exams with fellow schoolmates or in the same manner as others, is entitled to the right of sitting for exams in a special manner.”

If you feel uncomfortable with the sitting position in your classroom or during your exams, feel free to ask your teacher to give you a better seat.

With this, let me hope that all the special children in Rwanda will be treated fairly during examinations.
