Uncertainty surrounds the true identity of Lucky Dube’s origin. Amid conflicting claims that he was a Zimbabwean migrant worker, the Mpumalanga clan also claims "ownership” of the slain reggae star.

It has since emerged that he could have been a member of the Chibwana family which hails from Zimbabwe communal lands.

Meanwhile, days after Lucky Dube’s death, a member of the Mabuza clan in Ermelo, South Africa, claimed the late singer was one of them.

One Albert Mabuza claimed to be the elder brother of Dube’s biological father. As one of his fans, I think this crisis should be resolved and let his soul rest in peace.
