Speaking at the event, Rwanda’s Ambassador to China, James Kimonyo, stressed the importance of cultural values in nation-building, noting that Rwanda is built on cultural values.
"Reflecting on our history and preserving our culture are critical to continued progress in the development of our nation,” he stated.
He highlighted that this year’s event differed from previous ones by reflecting on the remarkable progress Rwanda has made over the past 30 years.

"We have reached this point by staying strong in our culture, preserving it, and avoiding practices that harm it,” Kimonyo said.
The ambassador pointed out that Rwanda’s achievements were a result of a return to the country’s core values of unity, courage, and dedication to work.
"Other countries that gained independence in the 1960s have not overcome the challenges we faced. Yet, in just 30 years, we have left those challenges behind,” he added.
He emphasized that these values were key to Rwanda’s development, urging Rwandans abroad to uphold them as well.
The event brought together Rwandans and friends of Rwanda, serving as both a cultural celebration and an opportunity to welcome new members of the RCA in China. It also provided a chance to reflect on Rwanda’s achievements in 2024 and look ahead to ushering in the New Year, 2025, with renewed hope and commitment to further progress.
