Executive Secretary of Benishyaka Associations

Betty Gahima is the Executive Secretary of Benishyaka Associations that helps orphans and widows through a variety of services to enable them attain what they could not before. Below she tells her typical working day:

I wake-up at a half past 5a.m, take a shower and prepare my children for school. I have breakfast and set-off for Kibagabaga via Kigali Parents to drop my children.  About 7.15a.m I am already in the office, although the official time to start work is 7.30a.m.

As soon as I reach office, the first task I do is to check mails and respond to my partners on urgent matters. This gives me a good start of the day’s work.  Mid-day is when I have lunch. I continue working until about 5 or 6p.m. I pick my children from school and proceed home.

I take my time as soon as I reach home to attend to my children, take a shower and listen to different news broadcasts in order to be updated. I normally have supper at 9 and get to bed by 10p.m
