Letshego Rwanda Plc staff on October 29 joined residents and local communities at Kibagaba and Kimironko cells in Gasabo District, Gitarama cell in Muhanga District and Rwebeye cell in Musanze District for October Umuganda community activities.

The day saw the team completing the renovation of a home in Gitarama Cell and providing 150 residents (100 in Kibagabaga cell and 50 in Gitarama cell) with Mutuelles de Sante health insurance to help them access healthcare services.

The activity was part of Letshego Rwanda's employee volunteer programme which sees the microfinance institution's employees working together with local communities one weekend every month, fulfilling a need or providing support.

It highlights Letshego’s commitment to giving back to the communities that have supported and partnered with the brand for 10 years.

According to Benjamin Muketha, Chief Executive Officer of Letshego Rwanda Plc, the microfinance institution is celebrating 10 years of improving lives in Rwanda and doing different community works is part of the revelry as well as Customer Service Month — October.

"Letshego is passionate about people and supporting the communities where we operate. Today is one of the ways Letshego employees come together to help vulnerable people in our communities," he said.

"Our personal health and wellbeing is a precious commodity, and we hope by giving out 150 medical cards, we can help ensure members of our community remain in good health so they too can support their own families and fellow members of our communities.”

Muketha also urged the community to work and stay together as well as to support the vulnerable.

Jean Luc Muhire, Executive Secretary of Kibagabaga cell thanked Letshego Rwanda Plc for the partnership that aims to improve the well-being of the cell's residents.

"Health insurance provides greater access to medical care and support. We wish to do all we can to ensure the health and well-being of our people are prioritised for the greater benefit of our families and community," he said.

"We are glad that Letshego employees joined us today and we hope to achieve more by continuing to work with them."
