Making sure you don’t miss out

Are you a luxury tourist in Rwanda, local, or just someone who wishes to have fun in Kigali? Here’s how to spend those dollars:

Head to Hotel Mille Collines for buffet, but if you’re not comfortable with their menu, rush to Panorama Restaurant at the top of the Hotel Mille Collins. Their buffet isn’t as spectacular, but the view makes a great start to the day.

Kigali Serena is one of those places to go when you have money to burn.

Word of caution! Don’t miss to rub shoulders with some of the world’s football stars on Monday at the hotel. A dinner has been organised for those who wish to drop some dollars to interact with the big-names.

The 13 man star-studded team, spearheaded by Barcelona striker Samuel Eto’o Fils will be in the country for three days in a charity game aimed at supporting the ‘One Dollar campaign.’

Dinner ( tea’ if you prefer), its a choice between Chez Robert, for a calm atmosphere or Chez John for a quality, local sourced menu that changes with the seasons. Both restaurants are in Kiyovu and will set you back a minimum of $20 a head - more if you order wine.

For late night drinking: Rock yourself down to Republika in Kiyovu for cocktails and beers with a view across the valley, or at Car Wash in Kimihurura, for their famous "Nyamachoma”, (roasted goat’s meat).

For busy people looking for a hassle free bite. Don’t waste any single minute! Rush to any supermarket anywhere and pick up a quick snack.

Or why not stop at Karibu, in town, BABA’s at Kigali Business Centre, or Executive Village (Giporoso) and grab a takeaway.
