The newly appointed Amavubi Stars head coach, Josip Kuze has plans to steer the country’s football standards to a new level.

The Croat said that he plans to start his era in Rwanda improving the players’ tactics with an aim of forming a better national team that will able to compete favourably in the both 2010 CAN/World Cup qualifiers.

"I will build a picture of Rwandan football through watching the clubs’ training sessions and all league matches throughout the country as I look out for the best players I find suitable to play for the national team,” Kuze said.

The former Dynamo Zagreb coach has been appointed as new national football team replacing Michael Nees whose one-year contract expired on September 30 and it wasn’t renewed.

The Croatian who is yet to know his assistant coach has signed a two-year deal which runs from until 2010 but the wages, as always, remained a secret.

Despite his monthly wages being kept a top secret like it has been with all his predecessors, the closest Sports Minister Joseph Habineza went into answering a question in that regard, was, "It’s is higher than what his predecessors were being paid”.

Ferwafa is expected to name a local coach to assist the 55-year old as Rwanda bids to qualify for the 2010 Nations’ cup and also have a go at 2010 World Cup final, which will be held in Angola and South Africa respectively.

Gen.Brig. John Bosco Kazura said that the local coach will be selected from one of the national football league clubs.

"We shall select a suitable and qualified coach who will assist this coach (Kuze), give him a contract too so as to able to meet our target,” the Ferwafa boss disclosed
Among his other duties on top of handling the national team, Kuze will train local coaches.

It is in his contract and Kazura believes this would in the long term help in developing Rwanda’s football by having many quality local coaches.

Good working atmosphere with the media
The former Croatia international emphasised the need to work hand in hand with the media if his work is going to be made a bit easier.

"Without the media, there is now way things are going to get better.
