Not too long ago, those who attended the second edition of Trapish Music Concert witnessed its success. The event brought together various international artistes in Rwanda, like Singhah and Ycee from Nigeria.

The success of these events can be attributed to Evolve Music Group (EMG), one of the companies that have been organising concerts in Rwanda for a long time.

Speaking to The New Times, Gilbert Rukundo, the brains behind Evolve Music, announced plans to make Evolve a strong record label that can sign big artistes in the country and organise mega shows.

He said, "We have been organising concerts for a long time, but people don’t know who we are, which is why we want to expand our services and identify different markets in the industry”.

"Our contribution is to develop the entertainment industry through various things, and we are proud of what we have achieved," he adds.

Rukundo added that Evolve’s new goal is to empower young musicians who are capable of taking the industry from one level to another.

"We want to expand and continue to employ different people, especially our youth."

In expanding its activities, EMG decided to do more activities beyond organising concerts in order to promote Rwanda’s entertainment industry.

It has already signed up and coming artistes in the music industry of Rwanda such as Khalfan Govinda and worshiper Loi G. EMG and managed Gabiro Guitar for a year, before they parted ways recently.

Rukundo says that they want to work with many other important artistes on the rise in Rwanda, in order to promote home grown talents.

He also said that EMG is planning to bring one of the biggest artistes in Africa for a concert that will be staged in the beginning of 2023.

The company began organising major concerts in 2017, starting with the Tekno Miles’ concert "My250 Concert first Edition” which attracted thousands of music lovers of Kigali.

This concert was part of Tekno’s tour dubbed 'The Lion King', which he did in most big cities of Africa such as Nairobi, Lagos, and Kampala among others.

Apart from this concert, Evolve is behind other shows like the cancelled "Love and Drunk Party" of Ycee from Nigeria, "Campus Music Fest" among others.
